Big Scale RC Icon A5 Maiden Flight Ground and Water

This is 1800mm Wingspan big size RC Icon that I have been building using a kit locally available. It comes with retracts pre installed. Today we give it maiden flight on ground and then in river off water. Unfortunately retracts are so bad quality that front retract broke on its very first and very smooth landing. So I had to lock them up and brought the plane to water for test flight off water. This big wingspan RC Icon flies very nice but it needs a very strong motor setup. I was running a 2812 550kv motor on 6S setup spinning a 12 inch propeller and it still felt under powered. Nonetheless it flew very well and it looks really nice, both in the air and in the water. It floats very well but due to a windy day and high wave counts in River, it did get some water inside.

I have now modified the plane with a 3520 Motor that will spin a 12 inch 3 blade propeller and sealed the bottom. Also did more sealing for preventing water to go inside the electronics area and installed a stabilization system as well. Enjoy the flight and more videos are coming soon.
